The 2008 Governor’s High School Conference on the Environment
Student Power: Conserving Your Future with Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy

Energy efficiency and renewable energy as the conference themes…
The 17th High School Conference on the Environment will showcase what students throughout the state are doing to conserve energy both at school and in their homes. Students will have the opportunity to learn about energy efficiency and conservation, renewable energy alternatives, and careers in energy. They will also learn how to implement low or no-cost energy action plans in their school and at home, reducing energy consumption, costs, and detrimental environmental impacts.

Exhibits
The exhibit hall features student poster presentations, professionals speaking about their careers, college displays, and professional exhibits related to energy resource management. Students have one hour during the day dedicated to visiting the exhibit hall.

Action Pledge
Students and teachers from each school regroup to discuss highlights of their day and make an Action Pledge to implement what they learned when they return to school.
