Pre-Conference Preparation
All students participating in the conference were asked
to
complete the Participant Preparation Activity
and either create an Exhibit to bring
to the conference or complete the Alternative
Assignment.

complete the Participant Preparation Activity. This
activity helped participants feel comfortable with
their citizen science monitoring knowledge level and
enabled them to expand upon this knowledge at the
conference.

Exhibit
Guidelines
Each group of students participating in
the conference was expected to bring a tabletop exhibit
about a monitoring project they are conducting at their
school. The exhibit included a poster presentation
and other related materials. See the Exhibit Guidelines
for details. If they had no current monitoring project
on which to present an exhibit they were asked to complete the
Alternate Assignment.

Alternate Assignment
If groups were not conducting a monitoring
project at school, they were asked to do the following activity
prior to
attending the conference. Once they completed the
Alternate Assignment they EITHER:
A)
Created a document
containing the information from the Alternate Assignment
and emailed it to the conference coordinator by November
12th.
B)
Created a poster
presentation that incorporated information from the
Alternate Assignment. Posters were eligible to win the student selected “favorite
exhibit” award.
