What was New for 2007?
If you have been to the conference before you know we organize the day to make the most of your time. Here were new features for 2007:

Hands-on Sessions
We lengthened session times so presenters could incorporate more hands-on activities, demonstrations, and discussion. Participants were active and busy throughout the conference.

Participant Preparation Activity
A Participant Preparation Activity was created to assist participants in boosting their knowledge of citizen science monitoring prior to the conference. All groups were asked to take a few minutes to complete the activity before the day of the event.

Expanded Exhibit Time - more time and more to see!
For one hour of the conference, all participants were in the exhibit hall together to share their poster presentations and interact with one another. There were also exhibits from many of the conference presenters so if someone was unable to go to all sessions that interested them they could seek out the presenter in the exhibit hall and learn how to become involved with their monitoring program.

Careers Showcase
In the exhibit hall participants could visit with professionals in environmental fields and ask questions about the monitoring they do. They had exhibits and tools from their daily activities to view.
Featured guests included research scientists from the Wisconsin DNR, a geologist from an environmental consulting firm, energy specialists from the Midwest Renewable Energy Association, an environmental coordinator from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, a meteorologist from the National Weather Service, and the director of Golden Sands Resource Conservation & Development Council, Inc.

Modified Exhibit Guidelines
Based on participant feedback we modified the exhibit guidelines. In 2007 all groups were asked to bring a poster presentation to share in the exhibit hall. PowerPoint could be used to supplement the poster but was no longer able replace a poster. Participants were encouraged to bring other materials for their display (e.g., handouts, models, monitoring equipment). A student selected "Favorite Exhibit" award (with prizes!) was given.
