Pooling Our Resources:
Understanding and Protecting Water in Wisconsin

  December 10, 2003
University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point

The 2003 Governor's High School Conference on the Environment theme was Pooling Our Resources:Understanding and Protecting Water in Wisconsin. Conference participants explored the many ways of understanding and appreciating water, investigated water issues, and developed community participation skills that could be used to care for and make use of this precious resource.

It was suggested that each school send no more than eight students to the conference. These students served as "ambassadors" and were required to bring a poster presentation to share. Teachers were encouraged to recruit students who had an active interest in the environment and who showed leadership potential. Individual students or non school-based groups were also encouraged to participate.

The cost of the conference, which included lunch, was $10 per person if postmarked on or before October 10, 2003 and $15 per person if postmarked after October 10, 2003.

Supplemental funding for transportation costs were available on a first-come, first-served basis.
