Energy Awards Ceremony

Every year, KEEP holds an Energy Awards Ceremony to recognize students and teachers who excel in energy education. Students are involved in many energy-related activities such as KEEP's Bright Idea Fundraiser, building energy efficient homes, or winning the annual bookmark contest.

Teachers are recognized for receiving energy education funding for their classrooms or winning the Energy Educator of the Year award.

The seventh annual Energy Awards Ceremony will be April 22, 2009 in Stevens Point. To view photos from the Awards Ceremony, please continue down this page.

2009 Bookmark Contest

2009 Bookmark Contest

In 2002, KEEP took over the annual Energy Bookmark from the Division of Energy, Department of Administration. The contest is open to 5th, 6th, and 7th grade students in Wisconsin. The theme for each year is announced in October and entries are due in December. Over 100 entries are received each year! Winners are selected in January and receive a $50 savings bond that is presented at an awards ceremony in April. The student's legislators are invited to attend. The winning set of bookmarks and essays are distributed to over 3,000 libraries in Wisconsin.

2009 Contest Theme: Energy Superheroes: The Quest for an Energy Efficient Planet. This year’s energy theme focuses on energy efficiency and the design of an energy superhero. This offers students a great opportunity to think creatively about energy savings. Students should look around their community, homes, and even the world for ways a superhero could help save energy for the future.

Eligibility: 5th, 6th, and 7th grade students of Wisconsin public and non-public schools. Each school may submit nine bookmarks total: three per eligible grade (5, 6, and 7).

Deadline: Monday, December 15, 2008

Awards: Each entry to the statewide contest receives a certificate of recognition. Winners will be invited to an awards ceremony in Stevens Point on April 22, 2009 and received a $50 savings bond. Their bookmarks will be reproduced and distributed throughout Wisconsin at no cost to participating schools.
