The Aldo Leopold Nature Center provides structured, hands-on nature education year round to students of all ages. Our programs include seasonal public programs, special events, school field trip experiences, summer mini-camps, in-class programs, teacher training, activities for special interest groups, and land restoration activities. Madison Gas and Electric gives tours of their coal, waste and biomass plant in downtown Madison, for grades 5-12. Group size is limited to 15 or less. Call 608.252.7091 to schedule.
Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) Wildlife Observation Area is part of a 600-acre wetland at the mouth of Nine Springs Creek where over 200 different species of birds have been documented. This area has trails and boardwalks where you can go to enjoy wildlife and learn about wetland management and wastewater treatment. Call 608.222.1201 for more information.

Forest Products Laboratory The Advanced Housing Research Center (AHRC) was established at the USDA Forest Service, Forest Products Laboratory (FPL), in Madison, WI. FPL has been involved in wood-frame housing research since 1910 and has long been recognized as a world leader in such housing-related areas as engineered wood products and structures, moisture control, material design and performance, coatings and finishes, adhesives, wood preservation, and composites.
