Information about the Game

The token game piece is represented by two "Cs" linked together. These game pieces represent a molecule containing carbon and other elements. The elements are held together with chemical bonds. Chemical bonds are formed during photosynthesis, resulting in a use of energy. The bonds are broken during respiration and combustion and energy is released. When the carbon molecules (represented by the token game piece) moves from one location to another energy that is being transferred or converted from one form to another.

Game Directions
To begin the game, click on "Location." This draw indicates where your token will begin in the carbon cycle. Draw a second (ending) location by clicking on "Location" again. This location indicates where your token must end up (if you draw the same Location Card, you need to move out of the initial location and then return to this location.) Select "Start Game" to show the Energy and the Carbon Cycle Game. You should see your token (the intertwined Cs) located at the Beginning Point. The Ending Point is noted with the Recycling symbol (because really the site is not the end, it will continue!).

To get from one location to another, click on "Process." The Active Game Help Box will direct you on what to do next.

Keep track of your moves in a Carbon Cycle Journal such as the one below:
