Unit 1: Renewable Energy Around Us

Unit Goal
Participants will become more knowledgeable about renewable energy resources, the history of renewable energy, and the extent of its use around the world.

Unit Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Determine why we should study renewable energy.
  • Explain the difference between primary and secondary forms of energy.
  • List five renewable energy resources.
  • Define each energy source, including how it is used as a renewable energy resource.
  • Compare and contrast off-grid and grid-intertied systems.
  • Describe how renewable energy is used in Wisconsin, in the United States, and in other parts of the World.
  • Depict the history of renewable energy.
