Opening Address
State Superintendent, Elizabeth Burmaster, will welcome the
group and give the introductory address.
In
2001, Elizabeth ‘Libby’ Burmaster was elected by the people of Wisconsin
to the office of State Superintendent of Public
Instruction. In 2005, she was re-elected to that position. She came into
the office with 25 years of experience as a public school teacher and
administrator at every level. In the State of Wisconsin, Libby serves on
the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents, the Wisconsin Technical
College System Board, and the statewide PK-16 Leadership Council. At the
national level, she is the immediate Past President of the Council of
Chief State School Officers, and serves on their Board of Directors. As
state superintendent, she has inspired us with what we call ‘The New
Wisconsin Promise,’ a pledge to provide a quality education for every
child in our state.
Keynote Speaker

environmental science educator in shaping the future of Wisconsin's
natural environment.
