Wisconsin Environmental Science Teacher

& Tuesday, August 17-18, 2009 Central Wisconsin Environmental
Station Amherst Junction, WI
This event will provide
you new field techniques and classroom enhancements. It’s your
opportunity to network and expand your teaching repertoire in a relaxed
environment with like-minded teachers.
The Summit is open to
anyone with interest. The target audience is high school level educators
from Wisconsin who teach environmental science, ecology, natural
resources, or related courses.
Day one
- field experiences: guided canoe exploration or naturalist-led
hike, forestry field techniques, pond mucking, and wildlife tracking.
Evening entertainment includes Wisconsin forest history with Lumberjack
Louie and a campfire social.
Day two - classroom
lessons: keynote speaker, Biofuels Sustainability: Assessing
Energy and Carbon Balance workshop, Sustainability Education for the
Classroom workshop, and environmental science resource sharing.
Registration is $25 for one day and $40 for both days if postmarked by
July 6. Graduate credit is available through UWSP. Fifteen $100
scholarships will be given to environmental science teachers to offset
credit cost.
CWES is a residential environmental education
center on a glacial lake surrounded by forest approximately 25 minutes
east of Stevens Point. Meals and lodging are available on site: B:$6,
L:$7, D:$8, lodging:$20.
