The Wisconsin Association for Environmental Education invites you to present at this year’s Fall Conference, October 29-November 1, 2008. The conference will be held at the Wyndham Airport Hotel & Convention Center in Milwaukee, WI.

The WAEE Fall Conference serves as an opportunity for members and non-members to participate in educational workshops, sessions and field trips. Networking opportunities are plentiful, as are fun, locally-themed social events. The theme of the 2008 conference is “There’s More to a City Than Its Skyline.” Join us in the largest, most diverse city in our state as we explore the numerous things an urban environment has to offer. We will investigate how we as educators and professionals can make a positive impact on our cities and what we can do to keep them moving forward.

Proposals are being sought to help us fill the following conference tracks. We’re looking for dynamic and informative individuals of all ages, including students (K-12 & college) and retirees. We would like the presentations to be as interactive and as hands-on as possible. Please make sure to leave time at the end of your presentation for dialogue regarding your topic.

Conference Tracks

Sustainable Cities
Are you passionate about water conservation, transportation, food issues, energy usage or healthy buildings? Present your ideas and actions you have taken that have helped further any of these endeavors.

Urban Outdoor Explorations
Do you have stories of adventure? Do you share a love of the outdoors? Bring your talents and interests to help educators and environmental professionals find creative ways to explore the urban landscape.

Bringing the Classroom to Life
Have you found innovative ways to bring life into your classroom? Do you have a living laboratory that you are excited about? Come share your stories and activities that you use to incorporate the outdoors into the classroom.

Environmental Justice
Have you found an approach to help bridge the gap between professed beliefs and actual behaviors, especially related to unequal or unfair exposure to environmental degradation? What about the gap between environmental ethics, environmentally responsible behaviors and unequal use of resources? Help environmental professionals and educators begin this dialogue by sharing resources along with some of your own experiences.
