2009 Convention logoThe Wisconsin Lakes Partnership 7th Annual Photography Contest
Deadline: March 2, 2009

To celebrate the 31st Wisconsin Lakes Convention, UWEX, WDNR and WAL are once again sponsoring a photo contest.  It is an opportunity to show the state why you love your lakes as well as display your skill with a camera.

Entry Categories:

1.  People enjoying lakes. Images with people fishing, canoeing, skiing, swimming, etc.  (Limit:  two entries per individual)

2.  Natural features in and around lakes and under water.  Examples include wildlife, vegetation, geology, insects, close-ups of aquatic life. (Limit: two entries per individual.)

Rules:

1. The contest is open to anyone.

2.  Each photo entered into the contest must include a separate entry form (click here), attached to the back.

3.  Prints must be at least 8 inches by 10 inches, and mounted on white or black matte board or foam core board, with a margin of at least 2 inches all around. Prints should not be framed or matted.  If print is from a digital camera, it must be printed on photographic-quality paper, as well as emailed to uwexlakes@uwsp.edu.

4.  Entries should be mailed to Kim Becken at the UWEX Lakes Program office (address below) by March 2, 2009. Prints can be picked up at the end of the convention (or returned if you do not attend by including a self-addressed envelope with proper postage).

5.  UW-Extension reserves the right to obtain an electronic or film copy of any image entered in the contest, for non-commercial educational or promotional use, with attribution to the photographer. For example, prints may be created for a traveling display that promotes the lakes partnership, used in a publication, or by a lake organization. UWEX is not responsible for lost or damaged photos.

Judging:  Photos will be judged by a 3-member panel that takes into consideration the popular vote from convention participants. Criteria for judging include visual impact, technical merit and composition.

 

Awards and Prizes: At their discretion, judges may award first, second, and third places, and honorable mentions for each of the two categories.

  • 1st Place:        $100 prize

  • 2nd Place:       $50 prize

  • 3rd Place:        $25 prize

The prints will be displayed and judged at the 31st Annual Wisconsin Lakes Convention, March 18-20, 2009, KI Convention Center, Green Bay.
