Nature Sketching and Plant Identification
Whether you are interested in beginning botanical illustration, just want to
start a nature journal, or would like to know more about the plant species
around you, this class will offer the opportunity to spend time identifying
and sketching wildflowers and other plants up close. While this class is not
a substitute for a full taxonomy curriculum, it is a great place to get to
know some of Northern Wisconsin’s vegetation. Lots of time will be spent
outdoors and student should be prepared to walk some of Treehaven’s many
trails. We will utilize a spiral bound artist’s notebook, pencil or ink, and
a small watercolor kit or colored pencils to take visual notes and capture
whatever is in bloom. All styles of drawing welcome; for those with some
previous drawing experience or instruction.
