In June of 2008, Schmeeckle Reserve Interpreters developed two draft documents for the South Denali Interpretive Master Plan:
1. Themes and Messages make up a framework that guides interpretation at South Denali. Themes are the broad important ideas, while messages are the specific stories that should be told. The document describes each theme in detail, lists significant messages, relates the themes to Denali National Park's framework, and compares the different park visitor facilities.
2. Site and Facility Concepts serve as a "program" that guides building and landscape architects as they design the facility. The document includes rationale for the currently proposed site, lists architectural guidelines, describes interior building spaces, and proposes several trail systems.
These concepts were presented at a stakeholder meeting in Palmer on June 16, 2008. If you were unable to attend the meeting, the PowerPoint presentation and drafts can be downloaded below.
If you have any ideas or recommendations for improving or changing the draft documents, please contact us at any time.
