The primary mission of Schmeeckle Reserve is to balance the many uses of the natural area, while ensuring that native habitats are preserved or restored.

To minimize conflict between users and facilitate long-term collection of data for the site, a Permit System has been developed for classes and research projects conducted in the Reserve.
