What forms of coordination are there among non-formal educators? (e.g. newsletter, statewide organizations for interpreters or administrators,...)


Alabama - Newsletters include: Alabama Water Watch, Common Ground, Environmental Educ. Association of Alabama. Also the EE Association of Alabama annual conference, other EE meetings.

Alaska - ANROE and newsletter, USFWS for refuge managers, Alaska Center for the Environment, Northern AK Environmental Coalition.

Arizona - Newsletters include those of the State Association, State Agency, Audubon, Sierra Club, Phoenix EE Networking Breakfast, AALE, and others.

Arkansas - Unreported.

California - California Outdoor School Association, Association of Environmental and Outdoor Education (limited coordination). Chapter of the National Association of Interpretation; Southwest Marine Education Association; California Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

Colorado - Colorado Association of EE will be the lead organization.

Connecticut - COEEA, Southern New England Marine Educators Association.

Delaware - Brandywine Museum Education Roundtable.

Florida - RSP and LEEF newsletters. Also, LEEF has begun a network for centers, and ran a pre-conference workshops in 1994. ANCA will become more involved over the next year.

Georgia - EE Alliance conferences and newsletters.

Hawaii - Hawaii EE Association annual statewide conferences and periodic workshops/meetings.

Idaho - Newsletters.

Illinois - EEAI as non-profit with statewide membership and annual meeting.

Indiana - EE Association, Regional NAI, organization newsletters; ICE, Hoosier Association of Science Teachers, Inc.

Iowa - ICEC; IAN, a statewide organization, publishes a quarterly newsletter and holds three meetings each year.

Kansas - Newsletters, KCAEE state programs such as Project WILD, Aquatic WILD, and Learning Tree.

Kentucky - The Kentucky Environmental Education Council has an Interagency Committee comprised of 15 state agencies involved in EE.

Louisiana - No organized coordination except Interagency Committee; some newsletters.

Maine - Involvement with MEEA and Earthminders.

Maryland - Newsletters from MAEOE, Project WILD, various outdoor education centers, state education agency “briefing.”

Massachusetts - Unreported.

Michigan - Michigan Alliance of Environmental and Outdoors Educators; M.E.E.N.

Minnesota - MN Naturalist Association; MN Association for EE; DNR “Interconnection” newsletter.

Mississippi - Informal correspondence; newsletters; MS Science Teachers Association.

Missouri - Nature center newsletters, MO Association of Interpreters.

Montana - Personal contact.

Nebraska - Unreported.

Nevada - Coordination through Nevada Natural Resources Education Council.

New Hampshire - NH Environmental Educators (organization with newsletter, meetings).

New Jersey - ANJEE

New Mexico - The state EE association, EEANM, publishes a quarterly newsletter in cooperation with several state agencies and non-profits.

New York - Unreported.

North Carolina - Newsletters, statewide organizations for interpreters.

North Dakota - Currently in infancy.

Ohio - EECO, Ohio Parks and Recreation Association, Ohio Museum Association, Ohio Chapter of the Association of Interpretive Naturalists.

Oklahoma - Project Learning Tree, Project WILD.

Oregon - NAI is active, museum educators, science teachers.

Pennsylvania - PAEE newsletter.

Rhode Island - RI EE Association, Geography Alliance, Audubon, Norman Bud Sanctuary, Save the Bay.

South Carolina - Statewide organization.

South Dakota - Statewide EE organization (EECSD) holds an annual conference and publishes a newsletter three times per year.

Tennessee - Several partner groups, conferences, TEEA, E-Mail network, TEEA Homepage, facilitator training.

Texas - TOEA publishes four newsletters and holds one state workshop each year; TAEE publishes four newsletters and holds two workshops each year; and NAI presents state report in regional newsletter, as well as hosting an annual workshop by SFA Student Chapter.

Utah - Newsletter.

Vermont - Newsletters; two meetings per year.

Virginia - VAEE/DEQ Annual EE conference, Outdoor Recreation Association, regional meetings.

Washington - EEAW has many members from the non-formal education community.

West Virginia - None.

Wisconsin - WI Association for EE has a nature section associated with it and holds meetings one to two times each year.; WAEE Bulletin provides space for articles from the nature/environmental center section. Our state newsletter, “EE News,” has information of use to the non-formal sector.

Wyoming - Individual newsletter, WAEE newsletter, WY Interdisciplinary Conference, WY Association of EE.
