Dear Colleagues:
Summer is quickly coming to an end and staff at NEEAP are preparing for the NAAEE conference in Atlanta, working on new projects, and getting our office organized and ready for the Fall season.
At the time of this printing of The EE Advocate, the National EE Act was again introduced in the Senate and is moving through the Congress. If the bill is adopted, this will be an important continued source of support for EE programs nationwide. Either way, professionals and supporters need to continue our efforts to come together, become better organized, and achieve increased funding and program support for quality EE programs and materials. Our ability to work collaboratively and synergistically will be the determining key to our success as a growing and contributing force in the field of education.
Along these lines, the current issue of The EE Advocate "unscrambles" many of the national organizations acronyms associated with the EE and Training Partnership (EETAP). Keep an eye on EETAP, the best is yet to come! NEEAP staff attended several EETAP partner meetings and conferences this spring and summer providing workshops and sessions on EE capacity building. (Almost all of the EETAP partners were also present at the 1998 Spring Leadership Clinic.) These exchanges are critical for state and national networking, strategic coordination and leadership development.
In addition to working with these partners, NEEAP staff provided a keynote presentation at the Arkansas EE Expo and held two focus groups regarding NEEAP's Organizational Assessment Tool (OAT) in Minnesota and Illinois. This Fall we will be conducting EE promotional workshops in several states. On the homefront, NEEAP staff have been hard at work updating our Web page, developing new services, and planning for next year's Leadership Clinic in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
We hope the summer season is providing you many opportunities to be with your families and friends.
