The Environmental Education Advocate - Summer 1998
The following information is provided to you as a service of the National
Environmental Education Advancement Project (NEEAP). We encourage you to use it and

Advancement Project where appropriate.
1998 has already proven to be another exciting year for the Environmental Education
Alliance (EEA) of Georgia. Members are working in numerous ways to improve EE in this
state. Opportunities for the development of an Office of EE in Georgia are continually
being researched along with EE resources which will be included in the EE Resource Guide
for Georgia and provided to every school system in the state.
The Alliance is very involved with the NAAEE National Conference being held in Atlanta
this September.
In addition to being the site team logistically, EEA will be presenting at the NAAEE
Conference. Their project titled "An Urban EE Partnership for Water Awareness",
which is a week long EE day camp curriculum on water, was compiled and distributed to
staff from the 70 City of Atlanta Parks and Recreation Departments. Full-time staff were
trained by the EEA team, and with the assistance of Jerry Hightower, field trips were
provided to the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area for 8 camps. As a result of
this and other projects, EEA received the 1998 National Project WET Award for greatest
contributor to the Project WET Program!
