The following information is provided to you as a service of the National Environmental Education Advancement Project (NEEAP). We encourage you to use it and please credit the National Environmental Education Advancement Project where appropriate.
In order to assist states who are building capacity for environmental education and developing sustainable grassroots organizations, NEEAP offers Resources and Opportunities. In this section, you will find information and contacts geared towards networking, partnering and funding opportunities, new initiatives, and relevant Internet links and list serves.
Papers on System Reform available on TEECH
View 12 recent papers on implementing and assessing systemic reform on the TEECH (Teacher Enhancement Electronic Communications Hall) home page at http://teech.terc.edu/. From the home page, click on PAPERS and then on SYSTEMIC REFORM. These papers were presented at the NISE Second Annual Forum, February 1997, on Research on Systemic Reform.
TEECH is an electronic community hall set up to foster collaboration among leaders in teacher development. The project is funded by the National Science Foundation. TEECH is free of charge and contains papers, lectures, discussions, projects, calendars and links related to professional development, standards & frameworks, curriculum materials, and many other areas.
Environmental Support Center
ESC provides subsidies for training and organizational assistance as well as many other services such as software and equipment donations and an environmental loan fund. Since 1990, the Environmental Support Center (ESC) has assisted more than 1,000 local, state and regional organizations working on environmental issues. The Environmental Support Center empowers environmental groups by helping to improve their management, planning, funding and communications capabilities. To be eligible, an organization must be a local, state or regional nonprofit organization with a portion of its resources devoted to environmental issues. Preference is given to organizations which: 1) advocate, organize or empower citizens to work on environmental issues, 2) serve low-income groups and/or people of color, and 3) have limited resources. Internet Training Opportunities for Conservation Groups in the Great Lakes Region
Free Intermediate "Internet for Enviros"workshops will be held at one day events during June and July 1997 in nine locations in the Great Lakes vicinity. These workshops are presented by the Environmental Support Centers Great Lakes Networking Project. Subject areas cover a range of topics including outreach, electronic publishing, web design, interactive forums, resources, managing information overload, electronic networking and many others. National Council of Nonprofit Associations
State member associations of the National Council of Nonprofit Associations (NCNA) offer assistance to nonprofits in their area. The mission of NCNA is to advance the vital role and capacity of the nonprofit sector in civic society by supporting and giving voice to state and regional associations of community-based organizations and other nonprofits. NCNA members offer information resources and technical assistance, public policy education and advocacy, cost-saving programs, and organizational development opportunities to nonprofits. Internet-Newsbrief: Weekly list of descriptions of Internet sites with environmental subject material.
To subscribe to Enviro-Newsbrief, send a message to: listserver@unixmail.rtpnc.epa.gov with the following in the body of the message: subscribe environb-l FIRSTNAME LASTNAME where FIRSTNAME is your first name, and LASTNAME is your last name. Dont put anything on the subject line unless your system requires it (use a period if needed).
