The Environmental Education Advocate - Spring 1998
The following information is provided to you as a service of the National
Environmental Education Advancement Project (NEEAP). We encourage you to use it and

Advancement Project where appropriate.
Dear EE Colleagues:
You may have wondered whether or not you were still on the mailing list for The EE
Advocate. Rest assured you are, and yes, we are behind an issue or two.
Needless to say, the staff at NEEAP and our partners have been extremely busy responding
to the needs, demands and surprises of a rapidly growing EE capacity building movement,
nationwide.
In this issue of the Advocate you will read about some of the exciting projects and
activities that have taken place in the past year. In addition to continued
leadership and organizational development activities, NEEAP is planning collaborative
projects, including an Organizational Assessment Tool, EE Barter network and a series of
peer-provided "EE Lead Team" workshops and mini grants for in-state assistance
and exchange. NEEAP will be working with the WestEd Lab, NAAEE Affiliates and Urban
Leadership Collaboratives, Projects Learning Tree, WET and WILD, EE Link, Northern
Illinois University, Western Michigan State University, Council for EE, State Education
and Environment Roundtable, and other partners to successfully implement these
initiatives. We thank the U.S. EPA, EE and Training Partnership, Tides Foundation,
National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, National EE and Training Foundation, and National
Wildlife Federation for their support of quality EE programming brought about, in part,
through and leadership and organizational development at the state and local level.
This issue of the Advocate also reports on capacity building news and opportunities
from throughout the field. Read on to find out about innovative work taking place in
Pennsylvania, Arkansas, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Illinois, Arizona, and Wisconsin.
Thanks to all who took time out of their busy lives to report on their state and broader
capacity building activities.
We will be publishing The EE Advocate on a regular schedule again, so please
contact us with ideas and information for articles that would be helpful to you.
State and local updates and information about opportunities for capacity building are
needed. Send your updates to Amy Kowalski in the NEEAP office.
We hope the summer season finds you enjoying family, friends and outdoor settings.
