Adults Encourage EE In Schools:
Roper Survey Provides Supportive StatisticsThe Environmental Education Advocate - Spring 1998
The following information is provided to you as a service of the National
Environmental Education Advancement Project (NEEAP). We encourage you to use it and

Advancement Project where appropriate.
The National Environmental Education and Training Foundation's (NEETF) Roper
Survey is an important document for demonstrating the need for EE. Entitled the
"National Report Card on Environmental Attitudes, Knowledge and Behaviors," the
report shows that a majority of the adults surveyed knew little about environmental
issues, yet 95% of adult Americans, including 96% of parents, believed that EE should be
taught in schools. These statistics, along with the results that 90% of the
respondents engaged in at least 6-10 activities geared to protect the environment, should
be encouraging to environmental educators and can be used in your efforts to promote EE at
the state and local level.
