Education reform is making fundamental changes in schooling. Whether we work within formal K-12 schools, nonformal programs, or higher education, the education reform movement challenges us all to ponder questions related to what we teach, how we teach, how we prepare educators, and how we view the very nature of schooling. There is much that we as environmental educators can learn from education reform. There is also much that EE can offer to successful schooling. The 1999 conference will focus on ways we can build synergistic relationships between EE and education reform. Over 300 conference sessions, keynote speakers, and symposia will provide a rich forum for reflecting on the roles that environmental educators can play in shaping formal and nonformal education in the years to come.
