1. What is environmental education (EE)?

Environmental education is a learning process that increases people�s knowledge and awareness about the environment and associated challenges, develops the necessary skills and expertise to address the challenges, and fosters attitudes, motivations, and commitments to make informed decisions and take responsible action (UNESCO, Tbilisi Declaration, 1978).

2. What is EE Capacity Building?

EE Capacity Building is developing effective organizations and individual leaders in order to achieve comprehensive EE programs at the state and local level.

EE Capacity Building involves:

  • Leveraging resources in support of EE programs.

  • Increasing networking and communication.

  • Training and follow-up support to state and local EE leaders.

6. What is the Environmental Education and Training Partnership (EETAP)?

The Environmental Education and Training Partnership (EETAP) is funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Environmental Education through a cooperative agreement with the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. EETAP serves as a national leader in the delivery of environmental education training to education professionals. EETAP supports a wide array of education professionals and is committed to ensuring that ethnically diverse and low-income communities benefit from and actively participate in education that advances student learning and environmental literacy
