Participant Survey
Due: February 25, 2003

Dear participant: Welcome to the 2003 EETAP Leadership Clinic planning process!  We need your input to gear the agenda to the needs of all attending the clinic this year including state and local teams, EETAP partners and other state and national stakeholders in EE capacity building.  We have developed a survey for this input and would appreciate your prompt response.

In this survey we ask for your input on the clinic purpose and goals.  We want to know what you want to get out of the clinic, what you can bring to it and what you would like to do while you are there.  So please, take your time to project ahead and respond to these questions.

Thank you for your involvement in making this the best clinic ever!

This survey is most accessible from Internet Explorer. If you are using Netscape, you may be unable to type answers into the text boxes provided. If you encounter this problem, please send your open-ended responses to us at neeap@uwsp.edu.

Please complete and submit by February 25, 2003

Section I: Clinic Overview

Below is a description of the clinic purpose and goals.  Please read each and let us know if there is anything else we need to address in order for the clinic to fully serve you and your team.

Clinic Purpose
The purpose of the 2003 EETAP Leadership Clinic is to support state and local teams working to increase state and local capacity for EE.  The Leadership Clinic agenda will provide innovative small and large group processes and tools for networking, planning and professional development.   We will also combine evaluation results from each team's capacity building efforts with clinic processes and tools to improve, promote and cross-fertilize models for advancing EE at the state and local levels.  In the process of this exchange we will unearth critical questions, priorities and opportunities facing the field of EE today.  Altogether, this gathering of EE leaders will increase our collective understanding and application of strategies to achieve effective EE programs and ultimately environmental literacy and stewardship.

Does the clinic purpose meet with your expectations and needs?  Yes No

Please explain:

Clinic Goals

1.      Each team will assess their state or community progress to achieve comprehensive EE programs (states), local capacity building approaches and plans (communities) and share results with others.

2.      Each team will develop action plans for 2003-2005 to provide stakeholders with articulated goals and strategies to achieve the components of comprehensive EE programs (states) and community based EE programs (communities).

3.      Linkages between state and local EE capacity building will be made.

4.      Each team will define target coordination and communication goals for itself.

5.      Individual participants will receive professional development opportunities geared to their individual and team EE capacity building needs.

6.      Leadership Clinic participant-driven principles, processes and tools will be modeled to provide individuals and teams with proven resources they can use in their own settings.

7.      The agenda will support team needs for networking, planning, professional development, evaluation and reflection.

8.      The clinic will feature resource sharing among local, state, regional and national partners.

9.      New insights and new or adapted processes and tools will update and improve the Leadership Clinic model for continued use.

10.  Results of the clinic will be shared with other state and community EE leaders in order to keep EE capacity building updated, informed and connected.

Are there other goals you or your team would like to see addressed? Yes No

Section IIA: Session Input
on EE Capacity Building Components

In this section, we would like your input on what you would like to get out of the clinic as well as what models and strategies you can bring for building EE capacity.  In developing this listing we drew from the model of "State-Level Components of Comprehensive EE Programs".  Individuals working primarily at the local level may find that some of these components are applicable while others are not.  At the end of this listing you will have the opportunity to list additional areas of EE capacity building content that you need or can provide.  You will also have the opportunity to suggest Resource People who could provide training/expertise in one or more of the component areas listed.  Please note that another listing in Section IIB of this survey highlights capacity building skills (e.g. fundraising, organizational evaluation, coalition building, etc).
