Wisconsin High School Forestry Education Kits
LEAF is excited to announce the availability of four traveling high
school forestry education kits. The kits contain equipment and tools to
facilitate teaching tree
identification and management, plot investigations, and navigation using
compasses. In addition, one kit contains 10 Garmin GPS units.
The kits are available for check out from four locations across the state.
There is no fee for using the kits, but users are responsible for the loss or damage of kit contents. Each kit is valued at nearly $2,000.
Funding for this project was provided by the DNR-Division of Forestry with support and coordination from the Wisconsin Agriculture Education and Workforce Development Council.
Each kit contains:- 15 Tree scale/cruising sticks
- 15 LEAF tree identification keys
- 10 Forest Trees of Wisconsin booklets
- 8 Ben Meadows Diameter tapes
- 5 Brunton Clinometers
- 5 Keson 100-foot tapes
- 2 sets LEAF tree identification cards
- 1 Trees and Shrubs of Minnesota book
- 1 Brunton Compass teaching kit (24 compasses, instructing compass face, user guides, instructional DVD, Navigation Curriculum DVD, student workbook, instructor study guide and answer key, and 2009 catalog)
