The first step in developing the Wildland Fire Supplement was creating the LEAF Conceptual Guide to K-12 Wildland Fire Education in Wisconsin. It follows the same format as the original LEAF Conceptual Guide to K-12 Forestry Education in Wisconsin. The Wildland Fire Conceptual Guide contains two parts. The conceptual framework identifies the important ideas students need to learn about wildland fire. The scope and sequence identifies the grades at which those ideas should be taught.

Work has begun on the educational materials for the wildland fire supplement. The Wildland Fire Supplement is scheduled to be completed in late 2006.
