MEEC
- Money for Teachers |
Thanks
to a charter school dissemination grant awarded to
the Wisconsin River Charter School through the
Wisconsin DPI, money is available to pay for teacher
and administrator registration and up to $200 for
substitute reimbursement. The Midwest Environmental
Education Conference is October 18-20, 2007 in
Stevens Point, Wisconsin. The theme is No Child
Left Inside and focuses on ideas, opportunities,
and methods to reintroduce outdoor time into your schools curriculum. Keynote
speaker, Richard Louv, author of the book Last
Child in the WoodsSaving Our Children from Nature
Deficit Disorder has raised concern for the lack of
time todays youth spend in nature and what this
means not only to the health of our environment, but
also to the health of individuals and society. To
learn more about the conference and to download a
pdf to apply for financial support to attend the
conference see

WAEE
Funding Survey Results |
In the fall of 2006, WAEE conducted a short
survey to gather baseline data on the status of
environmental education (EE) funding in
Wisconsin and the impact, if any, changes in
funding has had on programs and staff. The full
survey results are now available online at:
http://www.uwsp.edu/cnr/waee/AbtEE/status.htm
Overall,
EE funding, programming, and staffing were
reported as remaining fairly consistent this
fiscal year. There were no significant decreases
or increases in any area reported.
It is WAEE's goal to maintain data on
EE funding levels to determine trends in EE
opportunities around the state.
