Set Up a Workshop or In-service
LEAF staff can help you set up a workshop or in-service in your school/district. Our workshop and in-service locations are chosen based on demand. If you would like to arrange either, please contact us at leaf@uwsp.edu or 715-346-4956. Our course descriptions are listed HERE.
Workshop Options
Standard LEAF workshop: (12 hours) Classroom-based workshop including background information on forestry in Wisconsin and model teaching of LEAF lessons. This workshop is offered with the option of graduate credit. Each participant will receive a LEAF Lesson Guide with additional supplements as they become available. (Materials fee of $25/participant; Optional graduate credit fee - at UWSP rate)
Standard LEAF workshop with Urban Forestry emphasis: (12 hours) Our standard workshop as listed above taught with an emphasis on Urban Forestry. (Materials fee of $25/participant; Optional graduate credit fee - at UWSP rate)
Standard LEAF workshop + Outdoor activities: (16 hours) Our standard workshop as listed above with the addition of outdoor activities. (Materials fee of $25/participant; Optional graduate credit fee - at UWSP rate)
Outdoor Site workshop: (minimum of 4 hours) A brief overview of the LEAF program and demonstrations on how to use our Field Enhancement activities. Each school will receive the LEAF Field Enhancement guide to be shared among staff. (No fee)
Mini LEAF workshop: (4 hours) Classroom-based workshop including background information on forestry in Wisconsin and some model teaching of LEAF lessons. Each participant will receive a LEAF Lesson Guide. No graduate credit is available. (Materials Fee $25/participant)
District In-service (minimum 2 hours) Classroom-based or field-based in-service including background information on forests in Wisconsin and some model teaching of LEAF lessons. The district receives a full set of LEAF lesson guides for the library and each participant receives a CD-ROM of all the LEAF lesson guides. No graduate credit is available. In-services are provided free-of-charge, with some exceptions for material expenses.
Custom in-services or workshops Want to provide a professional development opportunity related to Wisconsin's forests, outdoor environmental education, and/or school forests that isn't listed above? Contact us and we'll discuss the options. We've provided professional development in Winter Ecology, Team Building, Outdoor Education Methods, and a variety of other topics using Wisconsin's forests as the focus.
