Plan Commission Workshop
Tuesday, July 28, 2009, Dodge County Administration Building, Juneau, Dodge County

Hands on Training for Local Officials. Towns and villages are encouraged to send members of their planning body, as hands on exercises will entail teamwork and evaluation of your local plan. Attendees are strongly recommended to bring a copy of their most recent local Land Use or Comprehensive Plan, applicable ordinances, and maps.

Roles & Responsibilities Workshop for Wisconsin Towns & Villages
Tuesday, May 26, 2009, Bennett Town Hall, Bennett, Douglas County

All workshops are held from 6:00pm to 8:30pm at the Leon Community Center, 20638 Jameson Road in Leon.


PLAN COMMISSION WORKSHOPS

Workshops are designed for newly appointed commissioners, veteran commissioners tackling complex issues, and professional educators and planners whose job it is to support local commissions. 

For newly established commissions, CLUE offers a basic plan commission workshop which can be tailored to address:

  • Establishing a Plan Commission
  • Recruiting and Retaining Quality Commissioners
  • Roles and Responsibilities of the Plan Commission
  • Comprehensive Planning Basics and the Planning Process
  • Encouraging Public Participation
  • Open Meetings and Public Records Laws
  • Ethical Conduct and Decision-Making

For veteran commissioners, CLUE can help to address complex issues such as:

  • Zoning, Conditional Uses, Non-Conformities, and Subdivision Regulations
  • Consistency and the Comprehensive Plan
  • Plan Implementation, Monitoring, and Enforcement
  • Intergovernmental Cooperation
  • Property Rights
  • And other relevant topics.
