announced its latest comprehensive
planning grant awards.
Smart
Growth: A Solution to Sprawl?
This article tackles how to
address sprawl by examining smart growth. Like the previous article, this
one will focus on small town and rural areas.

The owners of a campground applied for permission to increase
the number of campsites from 21 to 44. The property was zoned
Residential- Recreational with campgrounds listed as a conditional
use. The campground predated the zoning ordinance, had no
conditional use permit, and six of the existing campsites were
located in the shore land setback area.

Guides
to the Planning Elements
To assist in preparing comprehensive
plans, state agencies and UW-Extension have been issuing guides for
each element outlined in the planning law. To this date, there are
five completed guides, 3 guides under preparation and 1 guide on
other topics.
CLUE Launches New
Comprehensive Planning Education Project
Thanks to a $2 million dollar grant from the Natural
Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), a three-year project has been
initiated to look at comprehensive planning efforts throughout the
state.
