CENTRAL WISCONSIN AREA
ECO-MUNICIPALITY Newsletter

December 21, 2007

Greetings,

The newsletter’s primary purpose is to increase public awareness of events related to sustainability* in Central Wisconsin. For now, this newsletter is email only. The newsletter is scheduled to arrive quarterly.

The City of Stevens Point Eco-Municipality effort is in full swing. Here are a few of the highlights from the past month as well as upcoming events.

Eco-Municipality Kick-Off Event Overview

The public was invited to share their vision for a sustainable Stevens Point at the Eco-Municipality Kick Off event on Tuesday, October 30, 2007. The Kick-Off featured keynote speaker Mary Rehwald, who sits on the Ashland City Council and is an integral part Ashland's sustainability movement and their adoption of the eco-municipality resolution.

Focus the Nation

On January 31st, in classrooms across the UWSP campus, professors and students will be participating in Focus the Nation, a national global warming awareness day. Professors across departments and curriculums are asked, for at least this one day, to integrate global warming into their classroom lessons and educate students on how global warming impacts all career choices that students are pursuing.
