WILDLIFE INTERN
POSITIONS – 2007
REQUIREMENTS: candidates
should have at least two semesters of college (majors: captive wildlife
management, conservation biology, animal science, or any related fields).
JOB
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: daily cleaning of exhibits,
holding areas, and zoo grounds, food preparation and animal feeding, daily
observation and reporting of animal behavior, maintenance of exhibits and
animals areas, routine animal handling, assisting staff with capture and
restraint, and serving zoo visitors by educational programs and answering
questions.
PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS: to be able to work outdoors in a variety of
weather conditions. Interns are also
subjected to strong odor, hay, and animal hair/fur/dander. Zookeeping is a physically demanding profession.

INTERNSHIP
SCHEUDULE: Start job mid-may through the end of August, 40 hours
a week including weekends and holidays and paid an hourly wage.
