Dunes Naturalist Intern

and live within a state park? Then
Whitefish Dunes State Park, located in Door County WI, is the place for you. We are looking for a Naturalist Intern for
the summer 2006 season. This is a
volunteer position with housing provided. Spend your time on the beach
or hiking trails teaching others about the parks fragile habitat, rare species
and the enjoyment of the natural world.
Gain valuable experience working in a Wisconsin State Park setting.
Duties:
¨
developing and presenting interpretive programs
¨
preparing press releases and posters
¨
lead worker for a major special event
¨
assisting with display maintenance and design
¨
Keep accurate program records and work records
¨
Write articles for the Friends newsletter and local newspaper
Experience:
¨ Knowledge or the willingness
to learn about local natural history, geology and park history
¨ Ability to communicate this
knowledge to visitors of all ages
¨ Knowledge of and ability to
use Microsoft word, publishing programs and other computer software.
¨ Ability to be creative and
energetic

This is an Unpaid
Internship, which provides Free, On-site housing in lieu of salary. The Friends of Whitefish Dunes are offering
the naturalist intern a stipend and tuition reimbursement. Upon completion of the internship (minimum of
320 hours) the intern will receive a $1000 stipend. Also upon receiving proof of completion of
college intern credits, will pay up to $750 tuition cost. The schedule can be flexible that will
allow interns the ability to seek outside employment with local
businesses. Internship dates are
approximately May 24, 2006 to September 3, 2006. Apply by sending letter of
