        Overview

The intern program in Wildlife Resources provides positions in wildlife ecology and management, habitat manipulation, animal damage control, field research, and care and use of animal in various types of captive facilities. Most positions are located in Wisconsin, however a few positions may involve working in adjacent states (Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan) or in the northern prairie states (North & South Dakota). Most positions involve work during the summer field season (May through August); however some positions are available for spring or fall semesters. Duration and rates of pay vary greatly depending on the agency; most involve a 12-14-week commitment. All students are required to register for 3 credits of Wildlife 381 during the summer and 3 credits of Wildlife 381 during the fall semester. These may be taken for WE credit if arranged with the Faculty Advisor. Each student is required to complete a research project during the summer involving some aspect of the internship. During the fall semester, the student will write a paper in scientific format about the project. The deadline for final completion of this paper is the last day of the 3rd week of fall semester.
