Title:  Wildlife Management Internship

Description of Internship:  Assist wildlife staff with wildlife management and maintenance of

wildlife areas in Shawano, Outagamie, and Waupaca Counties.  Duties include timber management, water management, prescribed burning, prairie planting, tree & shrub planting, dike maintenance, trail mowing, firebreak construction, gate installation, sign posting, parking lot maintenance, timber stand improvement in oak stands, removing woody vegetation in prairies and openings, Truax drill  maintenance, banding site preparation, deer registration preparation, and prairie seed harvest.  Majority of time will be outdoors in a mixture of forest, wetland, and grassland habitat.  Waterfowl banding, rail, bat, frog and bear survey also included.

 

Desired Qualifications:  Junior or senior status with wildlife management major.  Background

in operation of tractors, mowers, chainsaws, and boats preferred.  Must be able to work well

with others and independently, valid Wisconsin driver’s license, and work under adverse

weather conditions. 

 

Hourly Rate:     $7.50 /Hour and housing included
