WILDLIFE INTERNS NEEDED
Two biology interns needed
to assist in wildlife management activities at
the
National Wildlife Refuges)
and Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge on
WHAT?
Primary duties will include
independently mapping invasive species
utilizing a GPS unit, and
incorporating the information into ArcGIS.
Secondary duties will
include assisting with the management of invasive
species, establishing monitoring
plots and monitor of invasive species,
data entry, and other duties as
assigned.
WHY?
This is an excellent
opportunity to gain valuable work experience on a
National Wildlife Refuge and
develop contacts with professionals in the
a management concern at many
National Wildlife Refuges across the country.
These assignments will aid
in successfully achieving management goals at
the refuge level.

WHO?
Ideal candidates will have
completed, or be enrolled in, a BS/BA program
in
Candidates should have
experience using a GPS, a basic understanding of
GIS, vegetation sampling
experience, interest in botanical work, and the
ability to work independently in
(potentially) wet terrain with large
numbers of aggressive mosquitoes.
WHEN?
From mid-May through August
2005; dates somewhat flexible. Work is 40
hours per week

$250/week stipend provided.
