Dr. Mike Dombeck, UW System Fellow & Professor of Global Conservation at the College of Natural Resources, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is seeking an MS level graduate student to work as a Project or Research Assistant, beginning June or September, 2008. Specific areas of research interest include: environmental history, human dimensions of natural resources, public policy, or current issues in public lands management. While natural resources or environmental science backgrounds may be desirable, well qualified liberal arts majors are also encouraged to apply. The College of Natural Resources, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is seeking one candidate for the Peace Corp Masters International program in the disciplines of forestry, wildlife, water resources, land use planning/natural resource management or soil science/agronomy. The MS level graduate student will work as a Project Assistant with the CNR International Programs Coordinator, working 20 hours per week and begin coursework September, 2008. The selected MIP student will be advised by a faculty member with related research areas of interest. MI program timeline typically involves the student enrolling for one academic year of graduate level courses, serve a Peace Corp assignment for two plus years and return to UWSP for one-two semesters to finish required graduate level coursework and a thesis or project (Note: MIP applicants should be applying for the Peace Corp six months to one year before starting university coursework.).
