Graduate Program

Funding Resources

Graduate Assistantships

  • A graduate assistantship is funded by either the University or through extramural funding.  The student has duties related to helping with a course of working on a research project.  Generally you are awarded this as soon as you are accepted into the program.  Contact the CNR Graduate Coordinator if you have questions about assistantships.

Student Research Fund

  • The Student Research Fund grants money to graduate students to help defray research expenses encountered during their Masters research. Funding amounts with a maximum of $500 per grant. You may be eligible for this funding if your degree program requires research or if you choose a research option in your program. Your graduate advisor must certify that the research project is required for graduation, you are making satisfactory progress toward your degree and the funds are necessary for you to complete the research. DEADLINES for proposals are typically late September, early December, early February and early April.

  • The Student Research Fund also provides "Travel to Present Research Results" grants.  Travel expenses up to $300 may be funded.

  • Application forms and further information can be obtained from the Grant Support Services Office, Room 204 Main building.

Scholarships

  • The College of Natural Resources distributes approximately 150 scholarships totaling $125,000 to CNR undergraduate and graduate students on an annual basis.  The criteria for many of the scholarships are based on the county of residence, financial need, major area of study and campus involvement.  One application qualifies students to be considered for all scholarships awarded.

  • HOW TO APPLY:  Applications are now available on-line.  Stop by the Student Success Center, CNR 180, for further details.
