Call for Papers

A call for papers has been issued for the 4th International Conference on Environmental Management for Sustainable Universities to be held June 26-30,2006, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, United States. The conference is hosted by the Global Environmental Management (GEM) Education Center, a center within the College of Natural Resources at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

The revised deadline for submitting abstracts is April 3, 2006. Review is now underway for abstracts already submitted and presenters are being notified so they may make travel arrangements. The conference comprises six thematic tracks that examine the interaction between universities and communities in promotion sustainable practices:

  • Informing local Smart Growth decisions
  • Engaging business and industry commitment
  • Enhancing intercultural understanding in the neighborhood
  • Greening energy systems
  • Introducing best environmental facilities management operations
  • Educating for sustainable livelihoods

Papers should focus on how universities connect with the broader community, spurring interest in and action toward sustainable practices. Presenters are encouraged to feature examples of success in building partnerships beyond campuses. Presentations will be 15 minutes with 5 additional minutes for questions.

In submitting abstracts adhere to the following guide:

  • The conference language is English
  • Limit abstracts to 200 words
  • Do not include graphs, charts or other graphics
  • Title, authors' names and postal addresses shall be centered at the top of the page with spaces separating the title, authors' names and addresses from the remainder of the abstract text.
  • Title Shall be in bold
  • The name of the author who will present the paper shall be underlined
  • Indicate that conference theme(s) to be addressed
  • Indicate whether a full paper or poster will be presented.
  • Font is Times New Roman, 12 points.
  • Software is Microsoft Word
  • Include mail address, email address, phone number and fax number of presenting author.
  • Abstracts must be postmarked by April 3, 2006.
