The GEM Critical Issues International Seminar Series returns for its fifth season during the 2008-09 academic year.

All seminars are free and open to the public.

Every presentation will be videotaped and made available on this website. Information about prior season presentations, including links to videos of those presentations, is on the bottom of this page.

The inaugural season of the GEM Critical Issues International Seminar Series in 2004-2005 featured six international speakers who addressed global security from an environmental perspective. During the 2005-2006 academic year, five speakers from Native American and overseas indigenous cultures discussed sustainability from the perspective of indigenous cultures' traditional knowledge, spirituality, community and health. In 2006-2007, the GEM Critical Issues Series focused on building sustainable communities. A booklet highlighting the series is available here, and links to videos and flyers for each presentation are here.
