Paul Doruska, Ph.D.
Paul Doruska is an associate professor in the Forestry Program at the
University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point, where he teaches undergraduate
and graduate courses in forest measurements, forest biometry, and
experimental design, in addition to teaching portions of the
Introduction to Fisheries, Forestry, and Wildlife class in the core
curriculum & assisting with Pulpcut. Paul is also expanding his teaching
horizons by becoming involved with the Mexico-Belize Winterim
international program beginning in Winterim 08/09. He also offers
continuing education professional short courses in forest inventory and
computing techniques.
While he is first and foremost dedicated to teaching, Paul also
maintains an active interest in research. His work has and continues to
focus on forest inventory techniques. Work in the past has focused on
stand density index based management, close range remote sensing, and
developing equations to allow foresters to inventory timber by weight.
His present work (involving both graduate and undergraduate students) is
focusing on volume equations for Wisconsin timber species.
