Forestry Outreach Programs

The University of Wisconsin Stevens Point in cooperation with University of Wisconsin Extension, the Department of Natural Resources, and woodland owner organizations have been working to implement new and unique extension programming for forest landowners to provide for grassroots leaderships and a deeper understanding of forest processes and sustainable forest management. The programs that were developed are the Woodland Leadership Institute and the Master Woodland Stewards Program.

These programs are supported financially by the Department of Natural Resources through a contract to develop and implement these programs. This financial support allows us to offer these programs at a greatly reduced rate and make them affordable for private woodland owners to participate.

These programs provide Wisconsin's woodland owners with a unique opportunity to learn about sustainable forest management and to play an important role as leaders in the management of our state's natural resources. We expect program graduate to apply what they have learned in these programs to their own properties and to help their friends and neighbors to do the same. Our goal is to help Wisconsin's woodland owners take their visions for their woodland properties and make it a reality. I would like to encourage you to be a part of that process.
