Richard Stephens ~ Inorganic Lab Manager

Maintains daily operation of WEAL lab.  Trains and supervises student employees. Quality control, method development. Inorganic lab analysis using ICP-OES, ion chromatography, and much more.

Bill DeVita ~ Trace Organic Lab Manager

Organic contaminant analysis using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry and high performance liquid chromatography. Pesticide and pesticide metabolite occurrence and movement in groundwater. Phytoremediation (the use of plants to accumulate contamination from groundwater). Trains and supervises student employees in the analyses of environmental samples for nutrients.

Kandace Ligman ~ Bacteriologist

Microbiological analyses on private and public water supplies. Coordinates lab analyses for statewide Community Drinking Water Programs. Trains and supervises student employees.

Nancy Turyk ~ Water Research Scientist

Conduct lake and river research to assess water quality and health of water bodies and watersheds for citizen groups and county agencies. Author and co-author grants for research projects conducted through the Water and Environmental Analysis Laboratory.  Communicate with state and local agency personnel regarding current status of water quality issues and identify research needs. Supervise and train UWSP students to perform watershed research.
