Phillips
GEM Director & Professor, Forestry
Victor Phillips, natural resources, conservation & sustainable development specialist, served as Dean of the CNR at UWSP from 1998-2004. He conceived & implemented UWSP’s Global Environmental Management Education Center to pioneer & apply practical learning methods & technology to solve natural resource problems by linking faculty, students & citizens worldwide. He has served as founding GEM Director since its establishment in 2000 to present. Previously, he worked at the University of Malaysia Sarawak on the island of Borneo. There he focused on biodiversity, conservation & management of tropical rainforests. From 1984-96 Phillips worked on natural & managed forests, tropical agriculture, renewable energy resources, & environmental management at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
