Wisconsin
Forestree
This is an interdisciplinary 2 or 3 day field experience for students in
grades 6-8. Students will study forest management, wildlife habitat,
forest diversity and Wisconsin logging history. Utilizing equipment used
by professional foresters, the students have the opportunity to put
their math and science skills to work amidst the forests of CWES!

Winter Ecology
Students work together as ecologists to study various microclimates,
learning what factors make certain areas warmer or colder and how this
relates to severity of winter, animal survival, and the predator/prey
relationship. Students explore life under the surface of a frozen lake,
learn how to construct shelters, snowshoe and build a fire to keep warm.
Changing
of the Land
Fourth grade teachers, this program is designed specifically for you and
your students! This 1-2 day field experience helps students understand how
forestry helped shape Wisconsin's history. These lessons connect the forests
of Wisconsin's past to the lives of students today. Students will come face
to face with a lumberjack from the late 1800's , experience what life was
like in a lumber camp, and take part in a lumberjack Olympics.
A
La Carte
A La Carte programming allows you to create a field trip that meets your
students' and school curriculum needs. Choose a theme such as Earth
Explorers, Human Interactions, Adaptations, Water Resources or Outdoor Skill
Development, and participate in hands-on activities.
Evening programs
Overnight groups take part in evening programming. Sing and dance along with
staff around the campfire, learn about animals, or trek through our dark
forests on a night hike. It's always loads of fun!
