During the summer of 1997, an informal wildlife survey was conducted on the Sternberg Forest. The Sternberg Forest is filled with a wide variety of wildife species due to the high diversity of the forest and the presence of Bull Jr. Creek and it's surrounding wetlands. The forested area provides excellent habitat for the whitetail deer (Odocoileus virginanus), raccoon (Procyon lotor) and eastern red fox (Vulpes fulva). Songbirds are very abundant throughout the property, with large numbers of American goldfinches (Carduelis tristis), northern cardinals (Cardinalis cardinalis), black-capped chickadees (Parus atricapillus) and white-breasted nuthatches (Sitta carolinensis) commonly seen. Unique species of songbirds, including the indigo bunting (Passerina cyanea), eastern bluebird (Sialia sialis)and rose-breasted grosbeaks (Pheucticus ludovicianus)were sighted.

Bull Jr. Creek and it's surrounding wetlands provide excellent habitat for a wide variety of waterfowl including the mallard (Anas platyrhynchos), hooded merganser (Lophodytes cucullatus) and wood duck (Aix sponsa). Beaver (Castor canadensis) dams and lodges, along with river otter (Lutra canadensis) slides can be seen along the banks.
