| Please
note:
The GPS data are in RINEX format and have been compress in a zip archive to
decrease the time they take to download. Zip files are available for each hour of the day or for the
entire work day (7 am - 6 pm).
Before you begin,
identify the files you need.
To identify the
file(s) you need for download, you need to know the date(s) and
hour(s), in Central Standard Time, during which you recorded
GPS data.
Download
Instructions
Click here to go to the gps data.
To
download a file with Internet Explorer, click on the link for the
time of day you collected data. When a dialogue box opens asking if you want to "open," "save," or "cancel;" select "save" and navigate to the folder on your machine where you want to save the downloaded file.
File Naming Convention
RINEX files for each hour are sorted and compressed into zip files. Names of the zip files start with the abbreviated name of the month and the day on which the data were collected, followed by an underscore, followed by the hour and minute of the first observation, followed by "to," which is then followed by the hour and minute of the last observation. These files end with the extension ".zip". An example filename for an hour of RINEX formatted data is "Jun8_700to759PM.zip".
In addition to the zip files containing RINEX formatted data for each hour, "Workday" zip files, which contain RINEX formatted files of data collected between the hours of 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM, are available. Workday zip file names begin with the abbreviated name of month and the day the data were collected on, followed by an underscore, which is then followed by the word "Workday". The filename ends with the extension ".zip". An example of a Workday filename is "Jun8_Workday.zip".
RINEX formatted files within the zip files start with "UWSP", and are followed by the day of the year, which is followed by a letter corresponding to the hour of the day (i.e., a = UTC hour 0, b = UTC hour 1, ...). The file extension for a RINEX observation files is made up of the last two digits of the year the data were collected in and the letter "O". An example of the name of a observation file is "UWSP160A.04O". The file extension for a RINEX navigation file is made up of the last two digits of the year the data were collected in and the letter "N". An example of the name of a navigational file is "UWSP160A.04N".
To Use
the Data
You will need a
program to unzip the files. I highly recommend WinZip
which is available from this site:
www.winzip.com
Unzip the file(s)
and use them with your software. (For Trimble software, the
RINEX files have to be converted to SSF format).
