Unit Goal
Participants will become more aware of the flow of
energy through
their lives.
Unit Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- relate living and nonliving components of an ecosystem to
energy
- analyze how energy flow through an ecosystem influences the
abiotic and biotic conditions of the ecosystem.
- identify representative energy users from various economic sectors
- summarize the various end-uses of energy in their communities
- calculate and compare the energy use of various appliances in
their homes
- analyze their energy use patterns and suggest ways to save
energy

Energy is all around us and flows through our lives in
many ways. It flows through both nonliving and living systems, including
human societies. Before proceeding please visit Section A for a
brief introduction on energy flow.
