Unit Goal

Participants will become more aware of the flow of energy through their lives.

Unit Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • relate living and nonliving components of an ecosystem to energy
  • analyze how energy flow through an ecosystem influences the abiotic and biotic conditions of the ecosystem.
  • identify representative energy users from various economic sectors
  • summarize the various end-uses of energy in their communities
  • calculate and compare the energy use of various appliances in their homes
  • analyze their energy use patterns and suggest ways to save energy
