Student Success Center Hours
Sue will will have walk-in hours on Mon. from 1-2:30, Tues. from 2:30-4, and Wed. and Thurs. from 10-11:30. The CNR Student Success Center (CNR 180) is open Mon.-Thurs. 8-4:30pm and Fri 8-3pm.

Finals Stress Relief NEW
Stop by the Student Success Center, CNR 180 for FREE coffee, cocoa, and cookies during finals week - Dec. 17-20, 7:45am-3pm. This finals stress relief service is provided by the Student Success Center!

PRA Natural Resources T-shirts
Hey everyone! Those of you who ordered CNR shirts with the new design, the shirts are in! We will be handing them out in the west end of the CNR the second week after Thanksgiving. Dec. 3-7. We will be there Mon-Fri, 9am-3pm, although hours may vary due to class schedules. If you are unable to pick up a t-shirt during our scheduled time, please email Kimberly, at kwill752@uwsp.edu and we will arrange to deliver it to you at a time that works best for you!

CNR Food Drive NEW
 Local food pantries are in need of your help! As we near the holiday season, many food pantries are struggling to keep their shelves stocked. Help Xi Sigma Pi collect donations in the CNR building to donate to the local food pantry. Donations will be collected next week, Dec. 3-7 and also Dec. 10-14.  Decorated donation boxes will be placed in the east and west lobbies, and also in the Student Success Center.  Any questions e-mail Hilary at hmeye711@uwsp.edu.

Ghana, West Africa: Sustainable Forestry in Tropical Ecosystems - Summer 2008
Northern Arizona University and University of Wisconsin -Stevens Point are offering a 3-week (3- credit) field course in sustainable forest management practices for tropical ecosystems in Ghana, West Africa. The course is taught in cooperation with local educators and research colleagues and includes time in both dry- and wet-tropical forest ecosystems. Environmental Educators and Naturalists Association (EENA/NAI)
Looking for a Monday pick up? Stop by the CNR west end lobby on Mon, Dec. 3 for some baked goods, fresh produce, or fresh hot coffee from Gotta Hava Java. We will also have a meeting on Dec. 4 at 7pm in CNR 122. We hope to see you there.

The Wildlife Society

Hey CNR Students! EVERY WEEK SGA votes on legislation that directly affects you as students! Let your CNR Senators know how YOU feel and what YOU want. Check out our new board in the first floor, south hallway of the CNR (right by the West Lobby). American Water Resources Association (AWRA)

Society of American Foresters
Join SAF every Thurs. in CNR 170 at 5pm. We'll have a new "tree of the week", speaker, or activity for you every week. Hope to see you there!

Sustainable Agriculture in Communities Society

Fisheries Society

Herpetology Society Meetings
Meetings are Mondays at 6pm in CNR 354. If you have a passion for Reptiles and Amphibians this is the place to be! Come and learn hands on care, handling, identifying and interesting facts about native and non-native herpetiles. The Herpetology Society has many speakers and field trips planned so come and join the fun.

 Society of Ecological Restoration NEW
 If you are interested in assisting the WDNR with habitat restoration/ enhancement for priority endangered resources, SER is the organization for you! On Mon, Dec. 3, 9:30am SER will be meeting on the west side of the CNR to depart for the Emmons Creek State Fisheries Area, southeast of Stevens Point, for our second WDNR-sponsored habitat restoration project to serve the endangered karner blue butterfly! Waste Management Society
 Waste Management Society meets every other Tuesday at 5:30pm, CNR 262.

 WI Camps
 WI Camps meets every 2nd and 4th Monday at 5pm in room 352 of the CNR. If you are interested in camping, kids and fun come check us out. Activities include conferences, networking with camping professionals, speakers, and fun socials. Hope  to see you there!

Women in Natural Resources (WiNR)

SCA Conservation in Action Multimedia Contest
The SCA is having a contest for creative, environmentally aware students to help raise awareness about environmental issues. Entries can be submitted in the form of a research project, thesis, video, website, or other multimedia project. For more information click on the title to view the website.

Wolf Ecology Workshops
 Experience shared learning with other wolf enthusiasts while tracking, studying in the classroom and field. You will experience actual tracking and a night time howling survey.

 Introduction to Wolves NEW
 This wolf workshop will provide the latest information about the timber wolf in Wisconsin. Participants will learn about wolf ecology and society, pack structure, predator-prey relationship, and about the past, present, and future of the wolf, including the myths and misunderstandings. Weather and time permitting, some tracking may be done so don’t forget to bring your boots.
WHEN: Sat 10am - 2pm, Feb. 16, 2008. FEE: $35.00. NOTE: Includes lunch. Registrations due Feb. 8. 

Fly Tying & Trout Stream Entomology
This favorite workshop will introduce you to: basic fly tying techniques, tools and materials, trout stream invertebrates, stream ecology, resource ethics, and theories on hatch matching and fly presentation. You’ll have loads of fun learning to tie common, effective fly patterns for trout at a fraction of the cost!
WHEN: 7:00 p.m. Fri.-lunch on Sun., Mar.7-9, 2008.

 Learn and practice group process and facilitation skills that can be used to develop highly effective teams that produce high quality results.

Are you interested in getting a Commercial Pesticide Applicator ' s License?
 This spring we are offering a course NR 405 (Section 2) Vegetation Management that will help you do just that. This course is a one credit course offered on Mondays from 5-6pm. The course will function both as a tutorial for the Commercial Pesticide Applicator's License exam as well as a general overview course in vegetation management. A Saturday field trip will highlight field application techniques including use of application equipment, application safety and instruction on equipment calibration. The course will finish up with the applicator's exam. A Commercial Pesticide Applicator's License is an awesome addition to a resume.
NR 405 (Section 2) Vegetation Management will be offered this coming spring semester. Please feel free to contact Professors Mike Demchik, John DuPlissis and Les Werner with any questions that you might have about this course or your advisor to see how it fits into your degree program.
