Scholarships

Scholarship applications for currently enrolled CNR students are available online on November 1 on the Student Success Center website. Application deadline is November 30, 2012. These scholarships are awarded in the spring at the CNR Rendezvous scholarship program. Click here for the 2012-2013 application and more information.

Scholarship awards are applied to general tuition costs, summer programs, such as Treehaven and Europe summer camp, and research.

Incoming freshman are not eligible to apply to these scholarships. Please refer to the following websites for information about incoming freshman scholarships. General UWSP incoming freshman scholarships and CNR incoming freshman scholarships.

Chosen by the CNR Undergraduate Research Symposium Committee

Awarded to an undergraduate student in good academic standing in the CNR - criteria include academic achievement, extracurricular involvement and financial need. Preference given to Waste Management, Soil Science or Land Use Planning majors.

Environmental Education major, preference for Portage, Wood, Waupaca, or Marathon Counties resident.

CNR major.

Urban Forestry Major.

Major or minor in ELE.

Wisconsin resident, fisheries major, junior or senior.

Student who has been involved in teaching traditional (hunting and fishing) outdoor skills to others. Male or Female. Active in student organizations. GPA 3.0 or better.

Preference for student working in the WEAL Lab.

Junior/Senior Marathon or Wood county resident, no anti-hunters, 3.0 GPA, wildlife major preferred.

Any CNR major with high student involvement.

Forestry major – sophomore, junior or senior, 2.75 GPA, extracurricular involvement

Member of Soil & Water Conservation Society. Award will be based on 50% leadership, 20% academic, 30% conservation and leadership activities- financial need not important.

A student going on the Costa Rica winterm trip.

Water resource major with an interest in aquatic toxicolgy.

Student with an interest in waterfowl, wildlife or law enforcement.

Junior or senior residing in Milwaukee or surrounding county, Must have hunter education certificate - no anti-hunters.

Water Resources student, Water Chemistry / Aquatic Toxicology student preferred.

Junior, senior, or graduate student in fisheries, 3.0 GPA, financial need important.

Awarded to graduate students in Environmental Education/Interpretation through the Wilderness Society

CNR major, junior or senior, 3.0 GPA or higher, graduate of a high school in Marquette or Green Lake County (or surrounding county – Columbia, Dodge, Fond du Lac or Waushara).

Outstanding CNR students

Awarded to an outstanding Forestry major

Preference to student majoring in fisheries or wildlife, involvement in extracurricular activities, and academic performance.

At least junior status, primary preference to qualified candidates graduating from a high school in Clark or Jackson counties or, if no candidates exists from those two counties, an adjacent county.

Fisheries major, WI resident, Good GPA, Planning on attending Graduate school.

Wisconsin resident, prefer big game management, no anti-Hunters, junior or senior, cannot be December graduate. Hunter Education Certified

3.0 GPA, Water Resources major, No anti-hunters, WI resident, Junior or senior.

Junior or senior wildlife student GPA 3.0 or higher.

Junior, senior, or graduate student from Sheboygan County. Separate application.

Any CNR Major with high student involvement.

Junior or senior forestry major with involvement in SAF.

Water Resources major (non-fisheries).

Students must submit a 500 word essay on the following topic:

"With all the different Walleye reproduction programs available, which program is the most practical and cost effective to stimulate natural Walleye spawning in a Mesotrophic status lake."

Deadline January 31, 2010. SEPARATE APPLICATION.

Junior or senior standing with a major in the water resources field, Wisconsin resident with a “B” average or better, and preference to candidate raised in Dane County, WI; or if none meet these criteria, preference would go to candidates from counties adjacent to Dane County, Financial need.

Scholarship to graduate student in wildlife (Wisconsin resident preferred).

Water resources. Water chemistry/toxicology student preferred.

Given in memory of these CNR alumni to an outstanding CNR student, preference for a veteran.

Graduate student in Wildlife – project must concern some aspect of non-game avian wildlife .

Water Resources student, Water Chemistry/Aquatic Toxicology interest preferred.

Student from Juneau, Adams, or Wood County.

High academic achievement, student involvement, extraordinary financial need.

Award to CNR major with 2.5 GPA and financial need.

Portage County resident preferred with financial need, grad or undergrad. (Scholarship continues through their graduation).

Sophomore or junior graduate from a high school in Barron County majoring in wildlife, forestry or conservation.

Must be Racine County resident.

Preference for students who are residents of Wisconsin, studying fisheries, wildlife management or environmental law enforcement. Selection based on academic performance, extracurricular involvement and financial need.

Rock County resident.

Junior or Senior Natural Resources Major, preference for students from the following counties; Kenosha, Racine, Walworth, Waukesha, Jefferson, and Milwaukee.

Forestry, Wildlife, Graduate or Environmental Law Enforcement student, 2.5 GPA, active in student/community organizations, traditional view of wildlife and other resource management, hunters.

Wildlife major, no anti-hunters, junior or senior, 2.75 GPA, financial need very important, Wisconsin resident. If no one is qualified, then award to a graduate student.

Fisheries major. Separate application.

Student who is actively involved in the UWSP fire crew and intends to continue a career in fire management.

Junior or senior, 2.75 GPA, any major, preference for Waupaca, Shawano, Calumet, Winnebago, or Outagamie County resident.

Preference for students working in the WEAL Lab.

Freshman-Junior, from Brown County or surrounding counties.

Junior or senior that has one full year remaining, wildlife major.

Junior or senior Fisheries/Water Resources major. Central Wisconsin or Wisconsin resident preferred. Member of Fisheries Society or AWRA.

Student must be from Langlade County with a preference for Water majors.

One student from Waupaca or Shawano counties or $500 for 2 students from surrounding counties. Preference for Waupaca or Shawano counties, if none from these counties, then select from surrounding counties. Must be junior status and majoring in water, 2.8 GPA.

Fisheries (Freshwater), good academic standing, WI Resident, must have attended Summer Camp, Involvement in Fisheries Society.

Sophomore or Junior from Waukesha County.

Junior, Senior or graduate student majoring in Fisheries.

Fisheries major with financial need.

Junior or Senior in waterfowl and dedicated to waterfowl management Jefferson, Rock, or Dane Counties students only, high GPA.

Wildlife major.

Wisconsin resident with preference for a Central Wisconsin resident.

New incoming freshman scholarship with a diverse background. Separate application.

Winnebago County Resident or non-traditional out-of-state student.
No anti-hunters, junior status as of spring semester (must be Senior the following fall), 3.0 GPA, financial need is important.
